“Wait, I solat first eh.”

December 30, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bunayya,

Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of Allah, you are seen willing to solat as and when you feel like. Of course, you will join us too for the congregational solats too!

Alhamdulillah, you are able to verbalize your thoughts and feelings(most of the time), including the above phrase. You will mention that when at times Ummi or Akhi or Abi call you to carry out certain task.

May Allah make Akhi and you and your other sibling/s Muslim ummah who will always remember and love to carry out your solat fardh until you return to HIM. Ameen!

Wassalam

High, High Fever

September 14, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Dearest Bint,

Just few days after Akhi had high fever and a terrible¬†cough, it was your turn eventually. Being close range siblings are like twins to both Abi and Ummi. “Kalau satu dah sakit, yang lagi satu tu tunggu sakit je.” A common expectant in sibling and family members being sick especially the common illnesses.

On the first day that you had fever was just normal fever, which subsid after medications. On the second day, your temperature seemed to shoot up to about 39.5 degrees. Alhamdulillah, it was¬†the day Akhi was to have his follow-up at the Paeditrician, so we brought you along. Seemed that you too needed the antibiotic when Nurofen no longer working. Hmmmm… my, my, my, our pocket money was really running very low (the next day is Abi’s pay day). Alhamdulillah, with Allah’s grace during this blessed month of Ramadhan, the rezk, came from some useful source – no, we did not land in any debt. Alhamdulillah. Without any discount and debt, we managed to pay for both Akhi and your medical fees.

During this period, Ummi thanked Allah the Almighty that this happened during the September 09 school holidays. Alhamdulillah, Abi was around most of the time when he was needed by you – to feed you, to carry you, to comfort you, etc, when everything that Ummi did to console you failed.

With Allah’s grace again (and again and non-stop), both Akhi and you recovered from your main sickness (high fever) by the 4th school term. Just for you, with the leftovers of cough and slight runny nose.

Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Laa-ilaaha illallah, Allah Akbar.

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bint,

For more than 10 years, Ummi was searching for the meaning of Ummi’s name, Huzaidah, but only found out during a visit to Habib Abbas on Saturday 6 Jamadil Awwal 1430H(2 May 2009M). All along Ummi knew that Huzaidah is made up of Yayi’s and Nyayi’s name Hu(sain) and Z(ub)aidah.

Ummi braved myself to go in front of Habib and asked the meaning. There is no meaning to the name and thus, Habib has given Ummu 2 names, 2 real names of Ummi. One is Faathimah and the other is Zubaidah.

Hmmm… Zubaidah (Nyayi’s name), Zubaidah(Ummi’s name), and Zubaidah, your other name, dear Bint! Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Laa ilaaha Ilallah, Allah Akbar! However, to be unique, Ummi chose Faathimah, keeping the name Zubaidah always at heart, each time others call Ummi ‘Idah’.

Upon informing Abi about Ummi’s real names, Abi also boldly asked Habib Abbas to check on his name. Habib has also given Abi 2 names – Abdullah and Muhammad. After much consideration, Abi chose his real name – Abdullah in the hope of being a great servant of Allah and reminding himself to be down to earth at all times.

The lesson to learn in name giving is the hope that we turn to be a good Muslimah and that our names are do’a upon us. Ameen.

“Allahu Akbar”

April 16, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bint,

In about a week’s time, you will turn 21 months. Alhamdulillah, we have seen you grow and develop along the way.

At this tender age of yours, you are able to say “Allahu Akbar” and many other words/phrases like, following the recitations of Surahs and dua’s (although only the ends), say “I you” (I loveyou), “Where are you?” and many many more. To add to your spiritual development, you are more readily to join in the solat, though it is normally shortened when you are distracted by Akhi’s play. Maasya Allah!

In addition, at this age, is observed your relationship with “Akhi”. Both of you can be the “best of friends”, but also the “worst of enemies.” At times, you displayed jealousy over Akhi. What Akhi does, you also do. What Akhi takes, you also want. What Akhi wants, you also want. What Akhi has, most of the times are tug-o-war sessions. This is a great challenge for both Ummi and Abi in handling sibling rivalry.

Motor skills. Hmmmm… you are into dough play and almost daily, you get a hold of the dough. Of course, each day, there is a coloured dough of your choice that you want. Rolling the dough is your practice at this moment. You will sing “Row your boat” instead of “roll your dough”. :D. In addition, your self-feed has improved after numerous practices. And today, you seem to have interests in learning to cycle the tricycle, and that’s something Ummi will let you practice when Akhi is buzy or in school. Alhamdulillah!

In terms of emotional development, your stranger anxiety has reached the stage of wailing especially in public, which we found very irritating ang annoying most times. Likewise, you respond the same when there are rifes between Akhi and you.

That’s about all for a pre update prior to you turning 21 months.

Wassalam.

Unwell

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

Since we came back from the KL trip for the haul, both Akhi and you have not been yourselves. Ummi thought it may be the changes of climate between Singapore and Malaysia. Wallahu a’lam.

Few days after the trip – Ummi sensed that your 2-week cough during sleep was getting worse. It was on Thursday that you began coughing even when you were awake. It rang the bell for Ummi to seek the doctor regarding your health.

On Friday, we went to the Paediatric clinic as the symptoms shown by you were just like Akhi’s when he had his terrible cough about a year ago – that asthmatic cough. Alhamdulillah, doctor did not diagnose you with bronchiolitis or bronchitis. You were very phelgmy when the doctor listened to your chest and back. You were prescribed the antibiotic (augmentin), phlegm medicine and also to puff you 4X with 3 puffs per session. With the medication given to you, resulted in vomitting sessions and passing motion that led to changing of bedsheets and also frequent change of clothes (Abi, Ummi and you).

Alhamdulillah, by Sunday, your cough subsid. However, you woke up at 2.30am with a very high fever. Ummi administered paracetamol and doused you in the bathtub of water for about 15 minutes until your body temperature dropped. The medication neurofen has been given to you since then as the high fever comes and goes.

The hikmah behind this maybe…. the haul this year focused on sabr(patience) and Allah is really putting us to test based on it. Allah is All Knowledgable and All Wise. So to Allah we seek help.

May Allah grant Ummi and Abi strength to overcome this challenge and many more to come in seeking patience(sabr). Ameen.

Wassalam.
