“Sittah!”

June 6, 2009

Assalaamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bint,

Today Ummi and Abi were amazed while Akhi, Ummi and you were at the dining table, doing our normal after Maghrib routine.

Akhi was so like the Al-Arqam cards. He is into rearranging them in ascending orter. While doing that today, Akhi was stucked as to what comes next after “Khamsah”. “Sittah!” you mentioned in your normal tone voice. Alhamdulillah, as Akhi is learning with Ummi all these while, you are learning too. Alhamdulillah!

Wassalam.

“Allahu Akbar”

April 16, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bint,

In about a week’s time, you will turn 21 months. Alhamdulillah, we have seen you grow and develop along the way.

At this tender age of yours, you are able to say “Allahu Akbar” and many other words/phrases like, following the recitations of Surahs and dua’s (although only the ends), say “I you” (I loveyou), “Where are you?” and many many more. To add to your spiritual development, you are more readily to join in the solat, though it is normally shortened when you are distracted by Akhi’s play. Maasya Allah!

In addition, at this age, is observed your relationship with “Akhi”. Both of you can be the “best of friends”, but also the “worst of enemies.” At times, you displayed jealousy over Akhi. What Akhi does, you also do. What Akhi takes, you also want. What Akhi wants, you also want. What Akhi has, most of the times are tug-o-war sessions. This is a great challenge for both Ummi and Abi in handling sibling rivalry.

Motor skills. Hmmmm… you are into dough play and almost daily, you get a hold of the dough. Of course, each day, there is a coloured dough of your choice that you want. Rolling the dough is your practice at this moment. You will sing “Row your boat” instead of “roll your dough”. :D. In addition, your self-feed has improved after numerous practices. And today, you seem to have interests in learning to cycle the tricycle, and that’s something Ummi will let you practice when Akhi is buzy or in school. Alhamdulillah!

In terms of emotional development, your stranger anxiety has reached the stage of wailing especially in public, which we found very irritating ang annoying most times. Likewise, you respond the same when there are rifes between Akhi and you.

That’s about all for a pre update prior to you turning 21 months.

Wassalam.

You Turned 18 Months!

January 30, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

You have turned 18 months last week weighing nearly 10kg. You have past the infant stage and now you are a Toddler! How time flies…

At this age, you are able to

–  name the items that you see around you

– show the directions of familiar locations e.g. home from the lift, Akhi’s school, etc.

– eat with us, despite having your own meals fed by Ummi.

– bring the spoon to your mouth (self-feed) others than your porridge

– drink water from a cup

– walk and run fast

– continue walking despite Ummi thought you will be tired

– remove your footwear upon reaching home

– hold the pencil like an adult (Boys and girls having vast difference in their development)

– gets frustrated when things cannot be done (needs to learn to be patience)

– be happy when both Akhi and you having quality time and when Akhi shows his love and brotherhood towards you

– upset when you can’t get things that you want and when they are taken away from you

In addition, you are now having 7 teeth already.

Turn, Legs Down …

May 10, 2008

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

Alhamdulillah, after much practice and reinforcement, you are now able to go down from the bed. At this point of time, you are 9 and 1/2 months. Well, Ummi and Abi have used the same technique as how we taught Akhi when he was about your age too. But Abi remembered that Akhi then was more aware of danger and somehow he learnt faster.

The technique is by using the following steps:

1.turn

2.legs down

3.hands up

4.hooray!(applaud)

Wassalam
