Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

On the days prior to school reopened for year 2010, when Akhi was reminded about going  back to school, you already gave signs to Ummi and Abi that you wanted to go to school and even mentioned the word “Explorers”. Yes, my dear, our initial plan was to enrol you in July.

However, after consulting few of Ummi’s early childhood professionals, and putting your readiness and weighing the pros and cons, we finally decided to enrol you in February instead. Yes, very much earlier than the initial plan. Following are what we may consider the best to put you earlier:

1. Your consistent request as the title reads, each time sending Akhi especially.

2. Not wanting to make you have the impression of being neglected once your younger sibling comes to earth (March-April).

3. Allowing you to settle down in school before the younger sibling arrives.

4. Allowing Ummi to make preparations for the presence of our new member of the family later. This includes

– adjusting to a new daily routine

– getting baby’s stuffs ready

– making arrangements for Akhi, Abi and you to sleep in separate room when baby arrives.

Insya Allah, with prior anticipation, all will go well. May Allah make this pregnancy and delivery a safe and smooth process for all of us including the baby in Ummi’s “tummy”. Ameen.

“Allahu Akbar”

April 16, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bint,

In about a week’s time, you will turn 21 months. Alhamdulillah, we have seen you grow and develop along the way.

At this tender age of yours, you are able to say “Allahu Akbar” and many other words/phrases like, following the recitations of Surahs and dua’s (although only the ends), say “I you” (I loveyou), “Where are you?” and many many more. To add to your spiritual development, you are more readily to join in the solat, though it is normally shortened when you are distracted by Akhi’s play. Maasya Allah!

In addition, at this age, is observed your relationship with “Akhi”. Both of you can be the “best of friends”, but also the “worst of enemies.” At times, you displayed jealousy over Akhi. What Akhi does, you also do. What Akhi takes, you also want. What Akhi wants, you also want. What Akhi has, most of the times are tug-o-war sessions. This is a great challenge for both Ummi and Abi in handling sibling rivalry.

Motor skills. Hmmmm… you are into dough play and almost daily, you get a hold of the dough. Of course, each day, there is a coloured dough of your choice that you want. Rolling the dough is your practice at this moment. You will sing “Row your boat” instead of “roll your dough”. :D. In addition, your self-feed has improved after numerous practices. And today, you seem to have interests in learning to cycle the tricycle, and that’s something Ummi will let you practice when Akhi is buzy or in school. Alhamdulillah!

In terms of emotional development, your stranger anxiety has reached the stage of wailing especially in public, which we found very irritating ang annoying most times. Likewise, you respond the same when there are rifes between Akhi and you.

That’s about all for a pre update prior to you turning 21 months.

Wassalam.

Step by Step …

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

Alhamdulillah, in 2 weeks time, you will turn a year old. How fast time flies.

Lately, you have been a hardworking little girl, practising on your steps. You have been able to cruise around since 9 months and last few days seems to be one of the milestone before you are able to walk on your own.

In one occasion, you were holding your bottle of water to your mouth. As you were doing that, you took small, steady steps walking about the distance of 2 floor tiles. Another was holding to the wall, walking up and down the step to and fro the kitchen and the living room. Good job, my dear little girl!

If more practises were donw, you will be able to walk by 1. Insya Allah.

Wassalam

Screamy Bint

May 1, 2008

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

Today is indeed a lepak day for Ummi – no cooking except for lunch, and most of the day, Ummi turned on the television to keep us occupied. Of course, alongside Ummi entertained and gave you and Akhi attention. Well, well, well… at one point of time, Ummi was playing along with the sounds that you made and try responding to them. One you were screaming and Ummi showed that withdrawn face to you and you repeated your screams. Hmm – repeated play right?

When Abi was back from work, he too was shocked to hear you screaming. We guessed that you have the loudest scream in the family and you are indeed the LOUDEST too. Ummi hope it is a tool for you to self defense yourself in future.

Wassalam
