High, High Fever

September 14, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Dearest Bint,

Just few days after Akhi had high fever and a terrible¬†cough, it was your turn eventually. Being close range siblings are like twins to both Abi and Ummi. “Kalau satu dah sakit, yang lagi satu tu tunggu sakit je.” A common expectant in sibling and family members being sick especially the common illnesses.

On the first day that you had fever was just normal fever, which subsid after medications. On the second day, your temperature seemed to shoot up to about 39.5 degrees. Alhamdulillah, it was¬†the day Akhi was to have his follow-up at the Paeditrician, so we brought you along. Seemed that you too needed the antibiotic when Nurofen no longer working. Hmmmm… my, my, my, our pocket money was really running very low (the next day is Abi’s pay day). Alhamdulillah, with Allah’s grace during this blessed month of Ramadhan, the rezk, came from some useful source – no, we did not land in any debt. Alhamdulillah. Without any discount and debt, we managed to pay for both Akhi and your medical fees.

During this period, Ummi thanked Allah the Almighty that this happened during the September 09 school holidays. Alhamdulillah, Abi was around most of the time when he was needed by you – to feed you, to carry you, to comfort you, etc, when everything that Ummi did to console you failed.

With Allah’s grace again (and again and non-stop), both Akhi and you recovered from your main sickness (high fever) by the 4th school term. Just for you, with the leftovers of cough and slight runny nose.

Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Laa-ilaaha illallah, Allah Akbar.

Wassalam

Before You Turned 7 months

February 22, 2008

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Dear Bint,

A day before you turned 7 months, was indeed a ‘heading’ experience/s for you. Ummi was around, but seemed that you moved faster than Ummi can react. However partly it was Ummi’s fault too! Aduh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh….

1st:Fell down from the bed

Early morning at about 7.00a+ after breastfeeding you, Ummi went to sleep unaccidentally. All I know you were crying from the side of the bed in a standing position. Alhamdulillah, you did not fall head down.

2nd: Tumble over from bath tub

Ummi had your cot in the living room too early. When Ummi left you in it to shower Akhi, you cried heartily (macam kena torture!) So I took the bath tub (not in used) and put at the toilet door with some toys in it, so you can have some playtime by yourself. Little did I notice, you tumbled over face down to the toilet when Ummi was washing ‘istinja” Akhi.

3rd: Head down to the kitchen

When Ummi was cooking in the kitchen, I saw you crawling towards the kitchen from the mattress that was placed in the living room. I was preparing Akhi’s dinner and you were so quick (barely 3 moniutes), you cried with face down at the kitchen doorway! If Ummi knew it earlier, I would have get you to crawl in the kitchen instead!

4th + 5th: Slip from standing at the table and knock the table

In the evening, when Ummi was feeding Akhi dinner (Abi was not home then), you were placed on the mattress just behind Ummi. Little did Ummi knew, you were already standing with the support of the table next to Ummi. Then heard a sound and you were crying – You slipped from your handle and your head hit upwards against the table.

They were indeed experiences that you faced that day that made Ummi’s day puzzled. They were also learning experiences for Ummi, as upon negligence, things can happen. Even when you were very near to Ummi, things can go wrong at times. Astaghfirullah!
