Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

On the days prior to school reopened for year 2010, when Akhi was reminded about going  back to school, you already gave signs to Ummi and Abi that you wanted to go to school and even mentioned the word “Explorers”. Yes, my dear, our initial plan was to enrol you in July.

However, after consulting few of Ummi’s early childhood professionals, and putting your readiness and weighing the pros and cons, we finally decided to enrol you in February instead. Yes, very much earlier than the initial plan. Following are what we may consider the best to put you earlier:

1. Your consistent request as the title reads, each time sending Akhi especially.

2. Not wanting to make you have the impression of being neglected once your younger sibling comes to earth (March-April).

3. Allowing you to settle down in school before the younger sibling arrives.

4. Allowing Ummi to make preparations for the presence of our new member of the family later. This includes

– adjusting to a new daily routine

– getting baby’s stuffs ready

– making arrangements for Akhi, Abi and you to sleep in separate room when baby arrives.

Insya Allah, with prior anticipation, all will go well. May Allah make this pregnancy and delivery a safe and smooth process for all of us including the baby in Ummi’s “tummy”. Ameen.

“Wait, I solat first eh.”

December 30, 2009

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bunayya,

Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of Allah, you are seen willing to solat as and when you feel like. Of course, you will join us too for the congregational solats too!

Alhamdulillah, you are able to verbalize your thoughts and feelings(most of the time), including the above phrase. You will mention that when at times Ummi or Akhi or Abi call you to carry out certain task.

May Allah make Akhi and you and your other sibling/s Muslim ummah who will always remember and love to carry out your solat fardh until you return to HIM. Ameen!

At this age, you are able to

– eat with us, despite having your own meals fed by Ummi.

– bring the spoon to your mouth (self-feed) others than your porridge

– drink water from a cup

– walk and run fast

– continue walking despite Ummi thought you will be tired

– remove your footwear upon reaching home

– hold the pencil like an adult (Boys and girls having vast difference in their development)

– gets frustrated when things cannot be done (needs to learn to be patience)

– be happy when both Akhi and you having quality time and when Akhi shows his love and brotherhood towards you

– upset when you can’t get things that you want and when they are taken away from you

In addition, you are now having 7 teeth already.

The Screeching Bint

October 16, 2008

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Bint,

Yesterday marked the first day when you began screaming and screeching till it reached Ummi’s eardrums! Even before going to bed, you screamed of excitement while playing with Abi.

Oh my…. you are indeed the loudest in the family. LOL

You are 11 months

July 1, 2008

Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.,

Ya Binti,

As Ummi was beginning to write this post, you just turned 11 months old (according to Gregorian calendar). Alhamdulillah, in another month’s time, you will be 1.

Following are what you have achieved for the past month –

Physical Development

1. Taking 1-2 steps hands-off to walk

2. Despite not able to have your legs reach while sitting on the toy aeroplane, you are able to cruise around with one leg. We will upload a movie taken to Youtube to proof this.

3. Teething on almost all surfaces and equipments.

4. Bouncing (in sitting position) on the trampoline.

5. Throwing things from the cot, high chair, and while playing. Basically “mengemas”.

6. Withstanding sleepiness, able to extend to 8 hours wake up duration.

Social-Emotional Development

1. Crying when Akhi cries. This is a sign of attachment towards Akhi.

2. Refusing Abi when you needed milk.

3. Enjoying playing along with Akhi. Laughs and responses between both.

4. Crying when left alone. Sense of fear is developing in you.

5. Responding to tune of music, body swaying.

Cognitive/Intellectual Development

1. Following a 1-step instruction. e.g. “Kiss Akhi Mukhtaar”, “Zainah come”, “No”.

2. Pressing a button from the toy aeroplane for certain effect. e.g. propeller spinning.

3. Crossing over the tables to get to the play area in the brown room.

4. Relating vocabulary to simple acts and familiar objects.
